American Infrastructure & Tower (AIT) offers rigging training certifications for telecom workers. Our instructors will come to you to teach these one-day courses.
AIT offers two rigging courses:
Rigging Awareness is intended for novice riggers, tower climbers, and anyone who might participate in rigging but would not act as the designated competent employee. This certification is also advisable for ground-based workers who perform low-height lifts to load equipment on trucks or move material around the job site. This course covers the comprehensive basics of rigging – including standards, equipment, methods, knots, and hazards – but does require students to put together rigging plans. Students are required to pass both written and practical exams.
Advanced Rigging Principles is intended for experienced riggers, especially those who would act as the competent rigger on site. This course dives deeper into the concepts presented in Rigging Awareness and teaches students how to put together rigging plans. Participants must furnish evidence of having previously completed a NATE Rigging Training Standard (RTS) compliant course such as Rigging Awareness. Students are required to pass both written and practical exams.
The bulk of the content of our rigging courses was developed in a partnership between the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association, but has been updated by AIT to comply with recent revisions to applicable standards. As such, you can be sure our rigging course is compliant with NATE Rigging Training Standard (2024), ANSI/ASSP A10.48-2023, ANSI/TIA-322-A, ASME B30, ANSI/ASSP Z490.1, and 29 CFR 1926.
These courses cover gin poles and hoists (including capstan hoists) as conceptual content only. Workers using hoists and/or gin poles will require additional training from a qualified person to operate such equipment. However, AIT does offer a Capstan Hoist training course.
At this time, AIT’s rigging courses are offered in English only.
