Building codes require that most guyed towers be inspected at minimum intervals of three years and self-support towers & monopoles be inspected every five years, or after any severe event (weather, seismic, or otherwise) that may have damaged the structure or the antennas it supports. More frequent inspections are often recommended for Risk Category III & IV structures (those close to an occupied building or which support emergency services), and AIT recommends that a Post Installation Inspection (PII) be performed within 90 days after installing any new equipment or modifications on the tower.
While many contractors claim to offer this service, on the assumption that merely working on towers qualifies them to inspect such, AIT’s team is trained in all applicable building codes and can provide tower and antenna site inspections which conform with the latest revisions of ANSI/TIA-222, ANSI/ASSP A10.48, and other standards which may apply to your tower (such as Motorola R56 or Army Regulation 750-1). Our detailed reports will provide both site owners and engineers the knowledge they need to assess and repair deficiencies.
AIT offers similar services for antenna & radio systems; including VSWR/Return-Loss sweeps, troubleshooting, and PIM mitigation. This service is typically packaged with maintenance services to eliminate wasteful return trips.
